Blood-Brain Barrier Model

The Blood-Brain Barrier (BBB) system is designed to model the BBB in vitro, offering a controlled, reproducible environment for studying BBB permeability, drug transport, and neurovascular interactions.

This system closely mimics the physiological properties of the human BBB, providing researchers with a powerful tool to assess compound penetration, optimise CNS drug delivery, and investigate disease-related BBB dysfunction.

Permeability

  • Transepithelial/trans-endothelial electrical resistance (TEER)
  • Supernatant drug concentration dosage

Representative transendothelial electrical resistance (TEER) measurement to assess membrane integrity in human brain microvascular endothelial cells (hBMEC).

Representative permeability assay using Na fluorescein.

Immunostaining of tight junction with VE-cadherin in green and ZO-1 in grey at day 7 of culture, 20X magnification. Cell nucleus staining with DAPI in blue.
